About Byron Bay
Once a sleepy surfing village whose only industry was an abattoir, Byron Bay over the last few decades has transformed itself into an exotic mix of alternative lifestyles. Its world famous beaches, glorious hinterland and unspoilt beauty attract visitors from around the world ensuring its reputation as the premium holiday destination in Australia.
The Byron Bay region offers a wide range of activities from surfing with the dolphins, diving in a marine park, whale watching, learning to surf to exploring ancient rainforests, gourmet to budget dining, spas, massages, meditation, cycling, hang gliding over beach headlands, skydiving or simply relaxing on the beach. Whatever you decide to do, Byron will exceed your expectations.
With miles of unspoilt and uncrowded coastline, Byron Bay beaches beckon those seeking a sun filled holiday, a surf safari, a fishing paradise or one of the country’s best diving spots in the protected Cape Byron Marine Park. The beach is at the heart of the Australian lifestyle and there is simply no place better to indulge that urge than Byron Bay.
No Byron Bay holiday would be complete without a visit to the Byron Bay Lighthouse. Located on the most easterly point in Australia, the lighthouse commands some of the region’s most breathtaking ocean and mountain views. As the locals know, it’s also the best place to take in the majestic migrating whales through the spring and autumn months. Every day, it is the first place the sun rises over Australia and a magnificent dawn viewing is a must. Another famed dawn can be experienced from the top of Mt Warning, the highest point in the district.
If it is some culture you are seeking, then nothing beats the multi award-winning annual Byron Bay Blues Festival. Considered one of the best music festivals in the world, the Byron Bay Blues Festival hits town each Easter over five days and attracts the cream of national and international acts.
The Northern Rivers is considered Australia’s regional centre for arts and culture due to its array of local galleries, art festivals, local craft shops, local gigs and of course the monthly Byron Bay Markets.
Approximately 800km north of Sydney and 200km south of Brisbane, Byron Bay has a sub-tropical climate making it the perfect place to visit all year round.
About Suffolk Park
Only 5 minutes from the centre of Byron Bay, Suffolk Park offers visitors a more relaxed and leisurely pace. Most of Byron Bay’s residents live in Suffolk Park, which understandably creates a more laid-back atmosphere and unhurried tranquillity away from the tourist delights of the Byron Bay town centre. Our guests often comment that they’ve discovered “Byron Bay’s best kept secret”!
Whether you’re planning a short break or a long lingering getaway, you’ll love Suffolk Park’s carefree charm. Sandwiched between the Cape Byron headland and Broken Head headland, you will find the splendid Tallow’s Beach surrounded by natural bushland, great surf breaks and unspoilt stretches of white sand.
Slip from your towel to shorts and take a bike ride through the 15 km network of coastline bike paths taking in the national park and local scenery. There is so much to explore.
Suffolk Beachfront Holiday Park is located right on the beach, with bush walking tracks leading you straight onto the sand (no roads to cross!). Take a swim in the morning, followed by a freshly brewed coffee and bacon and egg roll from the Suffolk Park Bakery before spending the day relaxing on the beach or exploring the local area. Then as the sun sets, head to the local Suffolk Park pub for a great meal or stay in and cook up a storm using our stylish camp kitchen and free BBQ facilities. Then wake up and do it all over again…bliss.
With its distinctive Australian summer style (think kids on bikes, walks to the local shop for an ice-cream and the smell of frangipanis in the air) you will love Suffolk Park – just don’t tell anyone…
About Broken Head
Broken Head offers some of the most secluded and stunning beaches in Byron Bay. To get to Broken Head you can take a 15 minute walk along the beach from the Suffolk Beachfront Holiday Park or you can drive 5 minutes down the road.
From Broken Head Beach you can explore the winding walking trail that leads you up and over the headland which is surrounded by national park. This track will take you to a number of smaller almost unknown isolated beaches and coves. You won’t find these spots in any glossy travel guide and some of these idyllic beaches even embrace nudity (so beware if this is not for you!).
If you are looking to retreat and get in touch with nature, then it’s hard to imagine a better place to visit than Broken Head.
